Surrogacy

Surrogacy

Surrogacy is a process in which another woman carries a baby for a couple who wishes to have a child, known as the intended parents. This option is particularly advisable for women with an absent or malformed uterus, repeated IVF failures, or recurrent pregnancy losses. Surrogacy has a long history as a means of helping women unable to bear children. With advancements in modern IVF, embryos can now be generated from the genetic couple (patient couple) and transferred to the surrogate host. The surrogate, therefore, provides no genetic contribution to the child, ensuring that the baby is biologically related to the intended parents.
